Box Jump Bonanza!

Yesterday was truly a box jump bonanza! After a long day I had been super efficient so that right at 3 pm I could leave and jam over to cf for the 3:30 class.  Lately 3:30 has been less crowded and it still leaves me time to work on other movements after class and allows me to still get home at a reasonable time. Just as I was gathering my things about to walk out of my classroom two former students of mine who I taught in 6th grade and are now sophomores in hs come through my door! I love seeing old students and catching up with them. As they told me about how well they are doing through the many challenges they are facing, and how some of them are now football and track stars there I sat and listened and suddenly realized that the hundred box jumps could wait another hour. :) Just so happened by some miracle that I was still able to get there just a few minutes late to a cf class that was only 4 of us and me being the only female. It was great and brought me back to days of the 3:30 class at our old box. It was often the same make up as yesterdays class however I was waaaaaay less skilled than I am now.

I power cleaned three sets at 110 and then got ready for the workout. I loaded RX 105 on my bar including the 1 and a half plates on either side to make it legit and got my 20 in box ready for jumps. coach Rick said in the first min we could even get 50 jumps. Don't think I've ever.gotten more than 20 or 30 in a min but I was determined to try my best.

Clock sounded and in the first minute seemed to connect the jumps like I haven't normally done with a quickness as I was counting and reached thirty I kept going. When he finally yelled clean and jerk, I had.gotten exactly 40 in the first min! The 105 seemed a tad heavy but I was able to do it. Got on the box jumps again and legs started feeling like gumby! I pushed through it and throughout the workout. I ended up having to do.three clean and jerks over because I was not able to completely lock it out. But when I was done I had.completed it.in 6:32 and knew I had given every once. Moat importantly I know anything less than forty jumps in a min isn't acceptable!  Fight.gone.bad....get ready for me!!!!

After the workout I.did seven sled pulls with the last two totally 225 pounds. Thanks to another cfers for that opportunity to Excel!

Wednesday clean day!

Ever have a day when you work out and at the end of the workout you feel like your heart is gonna explode?!?! You push through it unsure of the weight that you just loaded up on your bar... But all you know is that you are going to finish the workout... When its over you realize that every second you thought about stopping and decided not to counted in your favor. You look at your time and you realize that you have just completely amazed yourself and being that you are your own worst critic you know that you must have done a pretty awesome job. Well that is just how I felt today.... Great, just great...  Thanks to coach Rick and coach Jason for pushing me to do RX.

For starters today we did one rep max cleans. I got a 3 pound pr...at 123 pounds. Then we did the workout of power cleans and bar facing burpees at 95 pounds. We did 15, 12, 9, 6, and 3 for time. I completed it in 7:15 mins.  Yaaayyyy buddyyyy!!! I was excited!  Power Cleans are one of my favorite movements!  The workout today came from crossfit.com.

* I was a little slower on the second two runs than usual, but did all kb swings unbroken, and made sure to so all pullups with chin above the bar even if I had to jump off.

Two Burners in one day...

First burner was called "Annie" which consisted of double unders and sit ups... complete 50,50-40,40-30,30-20,20-10,10   fot time...  this time my double unders were pretty on point and much more controlled than in the past...first 50 I was able to get 38, then 12..the 40 I broke down into 30 then 10, the 30, 20, & 10 I did all unbroken. I was able to complete this workout in 6:28.  It feels great to be able to complete the workout in a good time and having done it without any scaling of double unders... what should my next double under challenge be??
Second lil burner was 21-15-9 box jumps (20in), sumo deadlift high pulls aka SDHP, and push press...this was a challenging workout for me because my arms were does from all the pull ups over the weekend and the push presses in this workout didn't help the situation. Haha. But I was able to complete it in 6:22.
I think it's funny how I remember when I first walked into Crossfit a year and 4 months ago and all the short hand on the board (SDHP, DL, PU, BJ, OH squats, THRUSTERS,HANG PC, etc.. to name a few) seemed like it was a foreign language I would have to learn and be able to speak if I wanted to succeed as a Crossfitter... I look back now after having gone pretty much everyday unless I have been out of town and I don't think twice about the coded lingo I see on the workout posts. Haha. Sometimes I have small moments like today getting all the double unders where I am amazed and excited about how far I have come physically and mentally in such a short amount of time... I remember being so frustrated about not being able to get them, so I would practice everyday and I know that the practice has indeed paid off double time.  I am becoming the athlete I was meant to be. Never underestimate yourself and the power of your capabilities.  We truly can reach amazing heights when we dedicate ourselves...  just remember to breathe & dig deep...

I owned that box today!

Today in our second part of the workout we did a spicy lil 21-15-9 workout of deadlifts and box jumps... I deadlifted 145 and today for the first time since I started crossfit I used the 24" box for the whole workout. Completed it in 6 minutes exactly...let's just say today I owned that box! Guess there's no going back now....   :)
